GreenTraveler: World's Best Travel-Friendly Food Container
Created by James Robinson
The perfect container to easily carry food, drinks and other daily items is a cylindrical, liquid-tight travel container. So after a couple years of design iterations, we have a solid concept that has six compartments to keep over a liter of liquids in, or it's contents dry, and easily clips to any bag, purse, or strap. Each container is also measured in dry weight and volume so you can portion your food, or buy from a hot bar without being charged the weight of the container.

Hello out there in the world,
It has been a little while since our last update. My heart is a little broken to say that we are still delayed. It is hard to admit this to the world. I know that many of you out there reading this have put your trust in us with the excitement of a product that can add great value to your life. And I am determined to give you that - a great product.
However, to make it great, I cannot accept 'good enough'. The manufacturer knows this as well. Bless their hearts, they are doing their best to make this a liquid tight product that is easy to use and feels good in the hands of its users.
These are some of the iterations we have gone through so far in attempts to get there:
Rather than go into great detail about what is working, what isn't, and what it will take to get to the finish line, I decided to host a live event and demonstrate the samples I have.
Sunday 11am NY time (16.00 Europe and midnight in Japan) you can go to this website live.kickstarter.com/james-robinson/live/the-crux and see what's really going on. Apologies to my Aussie friends who may have to stay up until 2am and those on the Pacific west coast that have to get up so early on a Sunday.
Don't worry if you miss it you can still follow that link to see a replay later. We may also record it and keep it on our Youtube channel with a link in our next update.
In a nutshell, (1) the Cups have been subtly redesigned to get maximum liquid tightness without the lid being difficult to screw on. The mold is being made for that right now. (2) The Nook lid is still undergoing design changes to get the seal we are after. I will show you in the live video how that is going.
The big question is, do we accept a 'drip.........'drip'..........'drip' from the center compartment Nook, or do we spend even more time and money on it? That is the question I would love to engage all of you in helping to answer. It is scary to delay sales and this business longer for 0.7% better result. Before you answer, engage with me on Sunday.
Despite the scariness, we are here for you. We exist to make the world better. To make a sustainable product that is convenient to use often and reduce the waste of to-go ware, encourage healthy living, and make your adventures even more awesome!

Mis amigos,
Happy Equinox!
I can not believe we are still working on this project into the second quarter...
Apologies for the silence since the last update. I was delaying this update hoping for the shipping announcement but we have just one more issue to address, which is that the main compartment lid warps under heat just enough to be worth addressing it. The product looks great and is 99.3% finished. ;) We could deliver it now and you may never experience issues, but I feel it is best to really be sure.I felt it is best to include you all in the decision. Write in the comments section, should we just ship now or try one of these two decisions:
This first solution can be completed more quickly and is very likely to work great. My only concern is cleanability.
The second solution is my preferred method but we are not sure it will work well enough and requires retooling which is a couple extra week delay.
I know that you are waiting patiently and that patience is running out.
So that you know, we are almost ready with our next product to rollout while still making corrections on the first one. Was hoping to send you smoothly the GreenTraveler before additional development. But with this project taking so long and nothing more I can do to expedite it, we are making use of the time to work on three new projects coming this year. We will present those in due time. But I hope to ship the first project to happy customers first.
In addition I would like to invite you to finalize and update your survey if necessary. We will be closing it very soon. https://greentraveler.backerkit.com/
Thank you as always for being rockstars. I sure don't feel like one right now. But we will get there and rock the world forever after. Looking back laughing at the struggle in the beginning.
From our humble beginnings,
GreenTraveler

Hey everyone.
Getting so close!! Trying not to be too much of an optimist and don't want to promise too soon but we really are so close I can see the finish line.
If you don't want to be bored stop reading. If you are already bored, or really interested in the finer details of our process.... We have been working on the compression of the gaskets finding a balance between sufficient compression for liquid tightness and ease of use. Because of course we can make a great compression fit but then it becomes hard to close.
We hope you like the result. A few more tests and tweaks and we will be ready to go.
Visit our webpage for more info on the manufacturing progress.
Thanks for your understanding.
This is a box full of trials. Our next step is to add pigment. Will make it infinitely more exciting with color! :-)

Hope everything is well in your world.
I do not want to bother you all with news everyday, but every day we are a step closer.
Going well in general, just slower than I had hoped. (If I were running the factory it would have been right the first time). ;-) Yeah right... It takes a lot of consideration to make good products.
What we are working on most right now is the issue of how heat changes the material's geometry.
Once the GreenTraveler is closed and together there are no issues and the sample I have has been fun to carry my lunch in, leak free. But I found when I wash the Nook lids in hot water they warp and bow.
The image above is an extreme case after all parts went through the heavy-duty dishwasher cycle on the bottom shelf. But to a minor degree it happens even when I hand wash in hot water. All those parts went in the same dishwasher at the same time.
The blue lids are a harder PP than the clear but that makes them more brittle and we are afraid the clips could then break too easily. So we have to find the tradeoff balance between flexible, soft and rigid under temperature.
But once the GreenTraveler is put together after just a couple the soft plastic flattens ago as the two halves press against each other. Still, it would be unfortunate to have spilling occur when you are late to work and trying to get your lunch together in a hurry.
The first solution is a slightly more rigid plastic and if that doesn't work, we will add ribbing which is less ideal, will take more time and is not as aesthetic. Of course we can do standard crosses as shown in this diagram:
Or we can do something a little more elaborate with a honeycomb texture but that would require a whole new tool to be made (a month delay). What do you think? Something to consider for the future?
As always thanks for following along and thanks for your patience!
James

Hi everyone!
Our delay is all about getting the best product back from the manufacturers. This update text is short but there is a link to the powerpoint created to explain all the improvements we still have to make on the samples recently received. Follow the link below to see where we are now and what still has to be improved.
