GreenTraveler: World's Best Travel-Friendly Food Container
Created by James Robinson
The perfect container to easily carry food, drinks and other daily items is a cylindrical, liquid-tight travel container. So after a couple years of design iterations, we have a solid concept that has six compartments to keep over a liter of liquids in, or it's contents dry, and easily clips to any bag, purse, or strap. Each container is also measured in dry weight and volume so you can portion your food, or buy from a hot bar without being charged the weight of the container.

Manufacturing Update Product in Semi-final Stages

Hi all! I know January is almost over and we had hoped to get our product out to you before the month's end but now our sights are set to within the next month.
Despite literally years of conscientious work on the design, reality, I am reminded, is never the same as theory. It is up to the manufacturer now to tweak material quality and shape to get it just right. We have, and continue to make, improvements. The following is in honor of anyone who has designed and produced a product or engineering service:
As we speak the latest samples are on their way to both me and our senior engineer. We will do our own testing to see how it can be further refined to meet or exceed the standards we have set. Meanwhile 3rd party quality control is performed for chemical analysis to ensure food safety and accelerated life cycle tests under intense UV. We appreciate your patience as we make this the product we are expecting to use and deliver. Nothing less.
Here is the most recent simple drop test on the cup filled with water:
A slight material change and this diagram of the design change to the cup made this drop test possible without breaking or cracking:
You can imagine that this and all future updates are difficult for me to write until the one where we can say "shipments are fulfilled and on their way to you." I look more forward to that day than any of you. It means years of work is finally a concrete reality and I will be celebrating! Wish we could all celebrate together with one big GreenTraveler party. ;-)
Thank you again for your patience and understanding. For trusting that we are doing everything we can and we are all perfectly confident it will happen as soon as possible.
All our best wishes on your travels!
James and all the contributors of the GreenTraveler Team

GreenTraveler Manufacturing News
– Mon, Jan 16, 2017 at 09:19:42 PM
So, there is good news and bad news:
The good news is the team we have to make sure we make the best product is second to none. A senior engineer, quality control company, business advisor and I, have been busy these last days trying to develop the product we want. Not to mention various product sales agents who are wonderful to work with, knowledgeable, thorough, and already planning some of our distribution channels.
The bad news is that, although this manufacturer was a referral from a trusted source, their experience is not as high for products like this as we had thought. Or perhaps my expectations of this being relatively straight-forward, given the design and engineering efforts over the last couple years, was incorrect. Even when a plan looks good virtually, of course real life requires physical tweaks to make it final.
Although it seems like a relatively simple item to make, the requirements we have for liquid tightness, durability, and overall quality do not seem to be so simple. The manufacturer is confident they will make it work, it will just take some more time. I will not promise anything but rest assured, I will continue to update you as often as I have relevant information.
Leaving nothing in the hands of just one company and leaving nothing to chance, we are vetting other manufacturers and a consulting team of engineers to see how to make further improvements so we can have the best product as quickly as possible.
Surely you can imagine that no one is more disappointed than me. But we are far from defeated. With lessons learned and more conviction that this can and will be done right, we are nearly certain to produce the product I envision.
I appreciate your patience, continued interest, and support to bring this project into reality. Rest assured we are working with all our hearts.
Please don't give up on us. My apologies especially for the family and friends for whom this was intended to be a Christmas present. Please forward this message to them and extend my apologies.
Here is a picture and a video of where it is now. The focus at this stage of course is on functionality, not aesthetics. Still colorless but possessing the features we are after.
We will love you forever for you hanging in there with us until the end! ;)
Best wishes,
James

Happy New Year!

Wishing you all and your families a fulfilling and prosperous 2017.
Of course I am wishing for the continued prosperity of GreenTraveler as well, for many years to come. In order to do that we need to have the best product on the market - that is our goal, determination, and only acceptable outcome.
There are many parties and people involved in the quality control of our new products. Besides the contracted manufacturer and the core GreenTraveler team, there is a senior engineer who came on board after being a KS backer, a consultant I have worked with over a year, a consultancy the engineer wants to work with and a 3rd party quality control company to test the chemistry and integrity in addition to fit, form and function. Over the next three days we hope to get a golden sample that we can fully approve and stand behind.
Today we have the first five injection molded products to examine and test. It doesn't look like much of anything but the functionality and reliability is what we are mostly after.
Once we pass all our testing procedures and have a golden sample, we can manufacture and send your orders within a couple weeks. Getting that golden sample is the hardest part.
Thanks for your patience with us. Rest assured we are making sure it is done right.
Since we are not shipping product yet, the BackerKit survey is still open another week if you haven't completed it, please do!!
Cheers to the New Year and best wishes from Green Traveler!

Initial manufacturing done this week

Happy Holidays to everyone around the world! Regardless of faith or nationality I hope this month brings you all closer to family and loved ones.
A quick update to let you know that our manufacturer will be finished with all the initial tooling this week. So we will start product testing this week or next.
If we have it right on the first try and it passes all our quality expectations we would ship it next week. But when does anything ever go perfectly on the first try?
Sincere apologies we could not get it in your hands before Christmas. I know some of you were really hoping for that. We worked as fast possible and pushed the manufacturer to have it done by then, but it is what it is. To get it right we can't rush it. We are on the average case schedule as expected when starting our campaign - not the best case, but also far from the worst. ;)
Will send some photos of the injection-molded product when we have it. In the mean time here is one of our tools. So you can see it is moving forward.
